Foodex has been postponed as the UK braces itself for a potential ban on large scale events due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The biennial event was due to take place from 30 March to 1 April at the NEC. Organiser William Reed said that the show will move to 12-14 April 2021 to coincide with the running its other food shows next year. The Ingredients Show will also move to the same date.

Foodex, which highlights the latest technology in the food and drink sector, was also co-located with Food & Drink Expo, Farm Shop & Deli Show and National Convenience Show. These events will now run at the NEC from 7-9 September.

“This decision has not been taken lightly,” said Andrew Reed, William Reed managing director for events and exhibitions.   We have been following government and WHO advice to continue as planned however it is now more likely that under the government’s ‘delay’ phase large scale events will be prohibited before the end of March.”
